And You Don't Stop: 30 Years of Hip Hop
August 15th 2006 23:00
The documentary, "And You Don't Stop: 30 Years of Hip Hop" (released in 2004) is by far the most in-depth, detailed, honest, profound and definitive chronicle of Hip hop from evolution in the South Bronx in 1974 to a culture celebrated and lived all over the world today; from funk and soul music, played, mixed and remixed by DJs, to their 'hype-men' that soon became known as MCs, to the boys dancing to the break in the beats of the music, and the visual artists painting what was known as aerosol art, or graffiti.
"(Grandmaster) Flash was a DJ; Kool (Herc) was a record player." - DJ AJ
"You gotta remember - Hip hop started off behind the DJ; it didn't start off behind the rapper." - Ice T
Here's the first 15 minutes of the documentary (6min for the 1st video, 9min for the 2nd video):
