Hiphop - Hiphopn.com

Several weeks ago, I posted an article about 70-year-old Bill Cosby's debut into the rap game.

He's getting a bunch of guests to come out and record some positive hip hop songs, encouraging kids to stay in school, respect their parents and get swallowed by a giant whale. Or something of that magnitude.

I took a look on YouTube and found that there are infinite numbers of Cosby rap compliations, like the infamous Dr. Dre/Cosby mashup:

Is that Bill Cosby? No - it's the audio track from the Simpsons episodes making fun of Bill. Take a look at the related videos: no shortage of music videos for this track.

Hell, I think it's catchy, personally. Pokemon? Pokemon!

Even better is finding this old Eddie Murphy clip of his Bill Cosby impression. It's a little over-the-top, but he hits some gold:

And the pinnacle of bizarre Bill Cosby pop culture is this : The House of Cosbys, a short animation that was so weird that Bill used his lawyers to make them stop.

Cibby threw up a nice post yesterday about a short video I sent him that my boyfriend made with 7 bboys, a bgirl and 2 trickers. I want to give this video as much exposure as I can because I really love it and not because i'm biased either - see for yourself. It sends chills down my spine each time I watch it, the music is fitting and adds to a "film noir"-type mood. It highlights the best that Sydney has to offer both in local artistic and physical talent; the classic backdrop is shown in a beautiful, different light to what you'd normally see during the busy city days and the slovenly nightlife.

For a moment it doesn't feel like Sydney, but an older, distant place in Europe. Far from the usual picturesque postcards of Bondi Beach, koalas or the Sydney Opera House, the dim glow of the view from the street level is reminiscent of the lifestyles of the same street dancers and trickers in the video - our underground community. Some struggle for recognition and respect from the broader community, others becoming nonchalant after trying for so long.

Enjoy, and show some love

On another note, directly after the end scene in this video, a man was hit by a Lexus at the intersection before the traffic lights turned green. He flipped into the air and landed smack on the pavement, blood gushing out of his head. A rush of pedestrians who witnessed the accident ran to his assistance and to the car that hit him, carrying a bunch of guys wanting to show off after seeing all the filming going on. They were screaming at the people in the car, "DON'T MOVE!!! STAY THERE! WE'RE CALLING THE POLICE!!!" I think the guy who got hit survived, although we're not sure. I hope he is ok, and if he finds this post, please email or comment to let us know you're ok.

About Me (Miss Hiphop.org.au)

July 5th 2007 02:52
One thing I've really overlooked is having an About Me page. Sure, we have our profiles maybe there's a need for something more. I'm not really into those text fields on your profile that you fill out on MySpace and other social sites where you like all your likes and dislikes, but a lot of the time, I guess people want to know some personal things about the blogger. I stumbled upon several blogging articles that stressed the importance of having one. So here it is, after over a year of being on Orble.

mz trina
Names:

Generally known as Katrina.
Friends call me Kat.
Colleagues and online buddies call me Trina.
Aliases include Mz Trina, Pimpcess and Mz Pro-Freshional (thanks George).

Background:

Born in the Philippines in 1985, raised in Sydney, Australia.
Mix of mostly Filipina and Spanish with a dash of Chinese and American.
Starsign is LEO and I believe in horoscopes. Proud, loyal and hardworking.
I am short aka fun-sized aka petite standing at just 5 feet I think? I've never measured.

Relationships:

My family mean everything to me; I choose my close friends carefully and I've never been wrong (starting from 18 y/o). I am devoted to my b-boyfriend but am secretly curious about experiencing (a) females.

Personality:

On that note, and maybe from reading some of my comments you may be able to tell that I'm a highly sensual and sexual person, but only when appropriate and only physically with my partner.

I strive to have a positive outlook on everything. "Think Positive" has recently become my mantra and I believe in all those neuro-linguistic programming techniques used by Anthony Robbins and in the "Law of Attraction" as made popular by The Secret (Rhonda Byrne, a fellow Australian!)

I follow my father's lead on his unwavering stance on morals and ethics. He is a devout Catholic and I am an open-minded agnostic.

I'm highly politically apathetic in all forms of politics.

My other passions include social justice which I plan to pursue alongside my love for Hip Hop. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I'm a geek. I love gaming and websites and technology stuff.

Lifestyle:

I live Hip Hop - it's a culture, it's my lifestyle, it's my creative outlet.
I am 50% soul/R&B smooth and sexy, 25% funk and 25% gangsta.

I DON'T:
- smoke (though I've tried)
- don't do drugs (except a few times when I was younger, I tried the Lebanese bong)
- don't drink alcohol (unless it's my birthday - I got so trashed on my 21st that I passed out. NO fun)
- don't drink coffee (yuck!)

I DO:
- swear a lot
- take painkillers when the pain is killer
- like making cocktails and mixed shots
- love laksa and have a record of eating it everyday for 2 whole weeks.

Talents & Skills:

- I dance semi-professionally (Hip Hop, Funk, House, some Breaking - Toprocking and Freezes) and am looking at teaching but wanna train more before I do
- I act as an agent for a few dance crews in Sydney
- I DJ in my room. Beat-matching and mixing come naturally as does grooving.
- I write rhymes sometimes when my mind somehow finds sick lines
- Am an entrepreneur, highly business minded with a marketing twist

Here's a video of my old crew Groovesteps with our award-winning showcase, Kill Bill inspired.

Education:

Am studying a combined bachelor degree at university majoring in Marketing, Management, Languages (Spanish and Japanese) and Internet Studies and doing some other accredited courses here and there in Event and Project Management.
I love learning - independently, off-campus. Lectures and tutorials bore me to death. Hence distance learning (yay for Open Universities Australia!)

Work:

- President of D2MG Hip Hop Society based in the University of New South Wales, 2006 to present
- Blogger on hiphop.org.au, dancing.net.au and my personal blog which I'm still debating on whether to keep up or not
- Personal Assistant at one time, I much prefer being the one supported than being the support
- Product/does everything Manager at an IT company. Using advanced technology in a Hip Hop related venture but I can't say what JUST YET!

In conclusion:

I don't know what else to say, if there's something you wanna know just hit me up. I'm hungry.
