Concert Review - Boyz II Men Valentine's Day Show, Sydney
February 16th 2007 03:23
Around 2,000 fans (two-thirds of which were couples), of THE ultimate R&B group of the 80s and 90s, the soulful Boyz II Men and the ever so sensual KCi & Jojo, filled the Big Top at Luna Park quite comfortably last Wednesday February 14th.
The Valentine's Day show had sold out a few days prior to the event, making it one of the best Valentine's Day for many, and for one couple in particular - right after KCi and Jojo left the stage, on behalf of The Edge 96.1FM, one lucky guy got up on stage and proposed to his girlfriend. He didn't have to ask the question, just got on one knee and the crowd went wild. It was an obvious yes and the newly engaged couple seemed overwhelmed, especially after the whole crowd sang "All My Life" to congratulate the two.
It was so beautiful, like a fairytale romance and there was a lot of love in the room, moreso, I'd imagine, than any other concert on any other day.
Boyz II Men came in with a BANG to Motownphilly, with their preppy vests in true old-school Boyz II Men fashion. I noticed many leave during Wanya's 'Right On Time' solo which is one of my favourite B2M tracks for its highly sexual content made so sensual and natural, with their classic tracks 'On Bended Knee' and 'I'll Make Love To You' sending shivers down my spine.
The Boyz ended the night with the same high energy that they had started with, and I'd say most people left that concert feeling touched and in the mood for some lovin', inspired to dig out their old school B2M cds and cassettes and bring back the soulful R&B.
Special mention to Mike Champion and his dancers Lenny, Nate, Sisqo and Karl - you lucky bastards!
For those who missed out, there's another show on tomorrow night (Saturday 17th February) so you can still catch the magic of Boyz II Men, KCi and Jojo before they take another few years to hit our shores.
Thanks to OPP, Showtime Touring for hooking me up.
