Busta Rhymes Australia Tour Cancelled
October 2nd 2006 23:55
I know I'm delayed with this news, (long weekend = party time) and everyone who's already bought tickets or have tried to buy tickets in the last few days will know that Busta is a no-show once again.
I'm not surprised because he's dogged it before, and I don't know whether it was his management or the event organisers who fucked up, but this time it seems that new organisers couldn't meet the rapper's demands.
This is the official statement released by PDA Touring:
"Busta Rhymes Tour Cancelled
Due to outrageous demands on the eve of departure by Busta Rhymes mgt PDA Touring has been forced to cancel "The Big Bang Tour" in Sydney and Auckland. This would have increased ticket price and that would have not been unfair on loyal customers. PDA touring had tried every avenue to resolve the problem but to no avail. PDA fully apologize for the cancellation and hope that the public understand that all problems were beyond PDA's control.
Also a thank you all business associates that were part of the tour. The help has been immensely appreciated and PDA will forever be grateful for the support.
All ticket holders are entitled to obtain full refund from their respective outlets."
Apparently on the day/night that Busta was supposed to fly out to Sydney, his management had asked for business class airfares and five-star rooms for his posse. Sure, for a big star that sounds reasonable; hell, if I was Busta I'd ask for the same thing - as if I'd make my entourage fly economy for 22 hours straight when they want me to perform there.
What's real suspiscious is that Busta's supposed to be opening act for Mariah on the next night of his Sydney show or whatever... his website says:
"10/2/2006
Concert
Oakland, CA Oakland Arena
Oakland-Alameda County Arena 7000 Coliseum Way 94621-1918 Opening for Mariah Carey Busta set 8-8:45pm".
Right.
This is why you don't get many American Hiphop acts out here, unless they're brought out by some big names like MTV, SONY/BMG, ADIDAS, NIKE etc (as a combined effort too) because they can afford to bring them out here.
Meh. How about we focus on the local hiphop acts and get them touring, sign them and show that we got great talent here too.
I'm tired, I'm over it.
