Background to RAMPAGE
The concept and script for RAMPAGE was written by George Gittoes and Gabrielle Dalton.
RAMPAGE is the mid film in a trilogy of documentary features by Gittoes & Dalton – the first, SOUNDTRACK TO WAR, (Iraq 2003-5), and the final NO EXIT, currently in pre-production, all explore the relationship of contemporary music and war. (SOUNDTRACK TO WAR is known as being Michael Moore’s source for Iraq war footage in FAHRENHEIT 9/11) www.soundtracktowar.com
Gittoes & Dalton work from the premise that life will throw up characters and plots as rich as fiction. As filmmakers, they position themselves to observe and capture.
With Gittoes behind the camera, and the location crew deliberately kept to a maximum of 2, they work to keep the location team as small and flexible as possible. (SOUNDTRACK TO WAR evolved out of the four intense periods Gittoes spent as a lone camera/sound crew in Iraq - March 2003-May 2004).
Gittoes’ son, Harley joined the team as 2nd Cine Camera for RAMPAGE
Vital to RAMPAGE was Gittoes experience in conflict zones. He states, “ without the background of functioning with my camera in war-zones, I would not have been able to enter a project like Brown Sub.”
